As you know, I mentioned starcraft game as ‘a very old game’. The game was released in 20th century. (It has been 26 years since it was released!) So it is not usual that there are some economic utility related to this game.
Actually, the the size of starcaft game industry is not the scale of ‘it has some economic utility’. The starcraft game content is one of biggest contents of AfreecaTV, which is one of most famous internet broadcasting station in Korea. The contents related to starcraft may be interesting to only some people. But the number of viewers is not so small and they (maybe) spend so many money to support the content they are interested in. And Korea had game broadcasting stations. So there are many expert about the game broadcasting.
There is a new starcraft game league in the AfreecaTV recently. The total reward of the league is 130 M KRW! I can’t guess how to get a budget. But I understand that it is worth holding a new league spending more than 100 M KRW in a month. (The league started in July 21st, the final will be August 18th.) I think the market size is big enough still.
I can’t remember I wrote the situation in the previous post.. Maybe I wrote. The recent starcraft broadcasting contents are based on the crew system – female influencer who can get people’s attention and ex- progamer who can show wonderful starcraft performance and teach gaming skill to others make a team. And the game is held along their tiers. So we can see many ex-gamer in the contents. Today’s main character is shown in above. His name is Lee Sung-eun. He became starcraft progamer in 2005 and showed many amazing ceremonies after win.
Because it is internet contents, the portion of female influencer is large. But his team has only one coach and almost one male player available in the league – himself. He has to leading the crew, perform the coach, prepare a strategy in each game, and go to league as player. This crew is a shortage of male player (acts as coach and high tier player). So the opponent crew try to make him as a player so he can’t act as coach well.
But, in the last game, he got a luck for map selection and showed good performance as starcraft pro gamer. He won his game and..
His crew has only one race – terran. And he showed ‘the terran should play such way against Protoss’ in his own game. He has not enough time to prepare his game and teach others. So he planed ‘All T vs P games have same strategy’ and the other members can get a solution other’s game. And the common strategy was 2factory mechanic terran build. The terran in starcraft has impressive armored forces – lots of siege tank, anti-aircraft weapons. And they showed. The opponent should be confused whether this crew showed 2fac. again or not. (As a result, they showed 2fac. 5 times in whole 6 games.)
I started to view AfreecaTV recently, so it is first time to view the league in real time. I am satisfied this game content. It has stories, and exciting.
